Ode to a Bean

Green Mountain and Starbucks and Dunkin', oh my!

Choice upon choice with endless supply.

Flavors like mocha, dark roast, and caramel surprise,

There are simply more options than I can surmise.

Awake before dawn with my time-honored friend.

I take mine straight, always fighting the trend.

As the smell, oh the smell wakes my senses anew,

I ponder the places where this bitter bean grew.

Whether Mexico, Columbia, or grown in Peru,

I can honestly say I have much love for you.

You start my day right with your fragrance and bite,

Leaving me ready to fight the good fight.

So you ask me the one thing I can’t live without,

By now it’s so clear that I don’t have to shout.

It is coffee, yes coffee, that magical bean,

She wakes me, she warms me, she is my queen.
