Ode to Broken Promises
Ode to broken promises and lies
while worrisome wears upon my white skin
i wonder, i wonder how anyone buys
your stories. making me wonder where you’ve been
when you said you’ll be back in ten,
but it’s been almost 3 years
remember when you promise you’d send
some help? but you went to get beers
for a man that doesn’t even appreciate you.
yet, reminding you what you did to me
but the drugs messed up your brain, too,
along with your heart. sadly, you can’t see
pain dripping from my eyes and falling on the floor
creating the river of hell you put me through.
my heart is not an open door anymore.
but, of course, you wouldn’t have noticed though.
because you’re in your own little sad
world that only involves you and drugs.
so blinded by the smoke, you can’t see the bad
influence you are to me. scratching the hidden bugs
under your skin causing scars to form.
yet, blaming me was your solution and make
it ok to give me the same scars from
the blade of wisdom you gave me. As you “bake”
in your room, neglect shadows over mine.
because of you i can’t trust. because of you i lost hope
and i still have to pretend everything’s fine.
even when i wanted to connect my neck to the rope
i couldn’t, but the thought never left my mind.
all because of your broken promises
and lies...
