Ode to Coffee, and its Awesome Power
Coffee!
...Oh, coffee! I adore you so.
Gazing into the steaming, murky depths of your extracted essence...
I see reflected love. And light. And ALL that is good and true.
Oh, coffee.
Be mine, forever more.
Meld with my very soul, let us be as one
And block my adenosine receptors 'til the end of time.
Sweet dopamine's release, chemical cascade
Fill me with vigor and alertness, that I might awaken and love you more
And sing your sweet praises
(on the internet, no less, branding myself perhaps an eccentric...)
I care not!
For I have you, holder of my heart and object of my passion.
Hush now, sweet one.
Let me put my lips upon your liquid form, drawing you in and subsuming you into my very being
To remain with me, for eternity
Until the earth crumbles beneath us and the sky falls from above,
Or, until I metabolize you in six to eight hours.
