Ode to a Cousin
Something is wrong
You’re so far away
Not for too long
You’ll be here to stay
Joined by mothers
You are like a sister
Though we can act like brothers
And sure cannot whisper
We think so alike
Even though you are older than me
We still share the same likes
But you sure ain’t taller than me
We will be together
Sooner than we think
Your presence is a pleasure
I just gave you a wink
Separated for now
But there ‘til the end
Although I’m not sure now
More than a cousin, you are my best friend
