ode to the flame
on winter nights i sat by you
your warmth to which gave me life
your pickles and crackels lit up my living room
rebelling the dark spirits of the night
there would always be a time where i would wake up in fear
and rush down the stairs to where your light was the only thing my young eyes could bare
you’ve burned so many and caused others death
but yet i grew fond of my own fireplace’s breath
you gave dragons power and demons a place to live within
but the one thing you could have was the ability to love
so i sit here on the ever so cold night
hoping that one day your flame will brighter than god’s light
but until that day you remain in my living room
and that is where you’lll stay
beneath the cold hard steel and imprisoned by glass
watching my family run free
while you burn your life away to nothing but a pile of ash
