Ode to a Flower

Have you ever stopped

in the middle of a sidewalk

to look down at a thin crack

embezzled in the concrete

and be so completely humbled

by the small pop of color

peeping through the dark crevice

and wonder how in the world

something so beautiful,

so sweet,

so fragile,

could grow in such a dark, lonely place?
