Ode to Joy

A boy with a mischievous smile fell for a girl with rosy cheeks.

He loved solitude and silence when all but her would speak.

She made every day a holiday, and every night a dream.

A fire burned within her soul giving the world its gleam.

Their lives told stories of adventure and romance

Until the day, fate pulled them from their trance.

A departure sure as death that neither could escape,

Their love did decompose, withering out of shape.

In passing only their eyes met though they did not.

What love had once been now came to naught.

The boy with the mischievous smile and the girl with rosy cheeks,

Once more in solitude and silence, neither could dare to speak.
