Ode to Letters

It started off simple-

A little "hey, I miss you"

"I miss your smile, that gorgeous dimple"

But each response, took a day or two.

Anxiously waiting by the mailbox,

hands shaking, heart racing

waiting for the mailman to knock

my handwriting is getting sloppy, better

slow down the pace.

I write for hours,

turning page after page,

I tell you everything; the sweet and the sour,

But who am I to blame?

These days your words aren't from the heart

I'm left staring at an empty screen,

Hell, it's so hard to start

a meaningful conversation with me.

Or even a simple, "hey, I miss you".
