An Ode to Lip Balm

You taste like my favorite candy,

a cold kiss my lips crave on a hot summer’s day.

I could write you stunning reviews

on some obscure beauty blog,

recommend you

endlessly

because I can’t live without you

and the world needs to know that.

I love you and that’s love

with seventeen o’s in it: looooooooooooooooove.

There’s a different flavor for

every day of the week,

for those times when I can’t make up my mind.

But you understand; you just get me

like no one ever has.

You soothe me, comfort my lips

in times of great need for moisturization.

Please understand:
I never mean to leave you behind
or accidentally wash you in my jeans’ pockets
I always find you again,
somehow, someway.
