An Ode to Love

I love you
the three most potent words in the world
more powerful than the most powerful incantation

Some people give it away
others fear it
I swear it upon the angel

When I first lay eyes on you
a mundane
I knew I was love

Being told we were related
injected a poison in my heart
slowly eating it away

I know you're stubborn
even my angelic power
cannot stop you

You may be different
but so am I
and your art has changed the world

Some days I wonder
if I'll ever see you again
if I'll live to see your face

but the thought of you,
your love,
keeps me going

Even when I was dead
and my soul drifted away
your voice held me to this world

In the clutches of the devil himself
I kept my thoughts on you
and, you saved me

When all hope is gone
and the outlook is bleak
you are my saving angel

Heaven and hell have tried to separate us
but they will never succeed
