Ode to Ma Dukes
Oh, mother you are so great!
I should praise God everyday for having you
Sitting at your desk 8 hours a day
Straining your eyes away
Doing what you can do best
For me and for you
Thinking non-stop 24/7
About every little detail
Making sure I'm always straight
Staying on me about my grades
Giving me advice before I do something wrong
Talking out my problems with me
I know I stress you all the time
But you don't know how much I appreciate you
I know you're already stressed out all the time
Off work and school burying you down
You're so amazing how you do the things you do
I look up to you
How you manage a full time job and school
Trying to become a nurse
How you started from the bottom and you're getting to the top
Raised me on your own to the person I became to be
I know some of me isn't like you
But you dealt with it anyway
I don't know any other way to put this
Thank you for everything
You mean the world to me
If I didn't have you I would have nothing
