Ode To Memories

The time I spend looking back is never time wasted

They can’t tell where I’ve been but they can tell I can take it

As I reminisce the happy times coming back to me

I can’t help but feel grateful for my memories

They keep me going strong and I enjoy the longevity

Now I know what I’ve come from and I know what they gave to me

For if it wasn’t for you, memories, how could I be so grateful as to thank you for everlasting childhood happiness

And even for the makeshift sadness

It’s memories that give you that ‘out of place’ smile every now and then

Those days when you feel like a three on a scale of one to ten

It’s memories that can add length to life

And bring you the courage right out of the strife

So you can look me in the eyes and say that you did it

And reprimand all those haters who say that it isn’t

So thank you memories-

For the pride and the joyfulness

The confidence, sadness, and the promises

Of the future, the promises of making it
