Ode to Midnight

you love all

so cold and mysterious

so ambiguous to all

who know

some do not know you

others know you too well

you are ethreal

the threshold between

the past and the future

yesterday and today

reminiscing memories and

new beginnings

you have no voice

you have no face

you go unannounced

hugged in darkness

yet so familiar

so comforting

your grasp is gentle

a simple reminder

vessel for deep thought

shedding a tear

exchange of warmth

loneliness in silence

relief in knowing

holding onto

cracks in the ceiling

street lamps flicker

you are everything.
