ode to m.n.

i shouldn't be able to ask for your companionship, or your puppy-dog loyalty but i do. i shouldn't be able to ask for your humor, or your day-brightening anecdotes but i do. i shouldn't be able to ask for your queries, or those secrets locked deep inside your mind, but i do. i shouldn't be able to ask for your favoritism, or to be the one you seek after each unending day but i do. petty perhaps, but i ask and i ask. but, then, you gave me something that I couldn't ask for. i didn't ask for your solace, or a hand to hold i didn't ask for your kindness, or our mental synchronization. but you gave it no problem. your Friendship is paramount, and given for free, no questions, no qualms. i could never ask for someone like you but luckily i never needed to. c.v.
