Ode to Motherly Love
Very early on a Friday morning,
In June back in 1998,
You were hired for the most important job ever,
And forever sealed was your fate.
There’s lots of moms in the world,
Hired for the same job, too.
Except there’s a big difference:
No one does their job quite as amazing as you.
You have always been there for me,
Forever by my side.
No matter the situation,
The goodness in me you find.
Whether it’s staying up with me for homework,
Or just sending an, “I love you,” text to brighten my day,
I have not a clue what I would do without you,
And the amount I love you is impossible to say.
In order to survive,
You are as essential as water.
And mama:
It’s an honor to be your daughter.
