An Ode To My Body

You are my temple,

Who continuously blossoms everyday.

You are strong,

Especially during the times I despised you the most.

You are a work in progress,

Cooperating with puberty in this age long transformation we call "life."

You are the olive, warm undertone,

That allows my skin to flourish during the tropical weather mankind calls ‘summer’.

You are praised,

For your gym sweat, your gains, and your losses.

You are an inspiration,

Who pulls through the bar squats that send a snap, crackle, pop, feeling down your knee.

You are the waterfall of tears

That made it through the giving of your virginity

And the birth of a woman.

You are the girl,

Who exercises

In an attempt to be at peace with her self, building a better version.

You are the bags beneath your eyes,

Drowning from the hypnotizing lights of your Mac Book screen

Struggling during your last minutes of late night studying.

You are the stretch marks,

The warrior scars indicating how far you have come,

From the battles you have fought.

You are the thick thighs

That don’t match the size of your scrawny arms, or the cocoa cola shape of your curves,

But that is okay.

You are the masterpiece Picasso brushes didn’t paint,

The equation Einstein ran out of chalk for.

My dear body,

I want you to never forget this,

We are one.
