Ode To My Dad

I used to think he was a superhero
Because he was invincible
But as I grew up I realized the real reason he’s a hero
Is because he isn’t
He taught me how to write
He taught me how to dream
He taught me how to forgive and let go
And he’s the best friend I’ll ever have
The best dad I’ll ever know
And even when I push him away
He never lets me go
I’m a hurricane girl
But he doesn’t see a storm
He sees his daughter
And even with the wind and the rain and the chaos
He loves me anyway
