Ode to My Hazel Eyes

Fri, 04/15/2016 - 17:18 -- imabird

In the night sky

The star’s twinkle

To the rhythm of my heart

The man in the moon

Sings me to sleep

With the sweetest melody

Made of light and convex beams

Colors dance in the daylight

The reds and yellows scream

Flames erupt in my wide eyes

While the blues and greens

Cool the red and yellow in my soul

All this wonder I can breathe

Through my hazel eyes

The mountains carry my weight

As I stand on their ledges

Consuming the images surrounding me

They are forever ingrained in me

As I am on them

My presence is a ghost in the wind

Swept up in all their glory

I don’t know where I’m going

Trying to get lost in fields of gold

But I will always have their faces

Immersed in the colors they call home

Igniting a fire of brown and green

There are many lifetimes

Beyond my hazel eyes

They give me reasons to survive
