Ode To My Little Gray Friend

Oh, how I need you my little gray friend!

The sleek curvature of your body glistens in the summer sun.

I’ll hold on to you dearly, until the very end!

For you provide me with endless amounts of fun.

Layered beneath every strip of your skin,

Lies a sticky mess that draws everything around your near.

Your fibers are stronger than metal or tin,

Your usefulness is more satisfying than beer.

No matter what situation arises,

I know you’ll be there to provide a solution.

With your help I shall build a vessel if the tide ever rises,

And move back to the city, filled with pollution.

If ever I’m in need of shelter or clothing.

I know you’ll be there to give me your all.

And if I fall into depression or senseless self-loathing,

You’ll cheer me up when I fashion you into a ball.

You may not have personality or the ability to speak.

But you’re willing to sacrifice yourself nonetheless.

I’ll shout your praises from the highest peak!

And will never leave your side……unless.

You unravel yourself to the point that I,

Can no longer use you as it was meant to be.

At that point, I’ll simply stare out into the sky,

And toss your cardboard center out into the sea.

Oh, Duct-Tape I wish your rolls were infinite!

I could then use you to make things for the rest of my days.

But your thickness will slowly vanish from my sight,

Then, like the setting sun our friendship will simply fade away.
