An ode to my sanity

Like an old friend

You support me

You lift me up again and again

Together we fit.

You carried me when my grandma died

Through breakups

Through rejections

Through dog shit.

When I struggled

You helped me prove I had power

Through storms

And through smooth charted seas.

You tell my story

A story of triumph

A story of hurdles

Mostly, a story of stubbornness.

When you retire

You'll be among friends

Those who have walked before us

Paved the way.

Laces entangled,

Road worn and soles peeling

Battle scars

For my dearest friends.
