Ode to my Shakira and Britney Spears Barbies

What are you looking for? An excuse? I outgrew you.

You can blame me all you want, but at the end of the day, this is about you.

You’re fake. Plastic even.

You look at me with those dead eyes wanting me to bring joy back to your life, knowing I can’t give you what you want.

Honestly, I think you do deserve better.

You want someone who has time for you. You know I don’t.

I don’t! I’m not a kid anymore. I don’t have time to brush your hair, shop for your clothes, and play house with you all day, while the world around us keeps spinning.

You might not feel it, but I do. It’s obvious I don’t have the attention span for this.

That’s the one thing I regret. I should have been loyal to you.

I just needed a distraction and Polly was… flexible.

I don’t mean to be insensitive, but I think now, more than ever, is the time to be frank.

I need this. It’s time to move on, for both of us.

You need attention and I need space.

You took my focus away from what was truly important to me and although it was fun while it lasted, I’m ready to explore a life without you.

I’m done letting you toy with me.
