Ode to a Relentless Fighter

Who are you?

What is your purpose?

What do you want to leave behind?

Are you a fly on the wall,

or a lesson to teach us all?

Hey little fighter, things will get brighter.

Just wait and see.

What our Lord has in store for you,

Never asking "Why me?"

You have strength.

You have the love.

So take this shove, to win this battle.

Things will get brighter.

Your optimism, faith, and will.

To keep on fighting right until you beat it all.

With goals in mind greater than your peers,

I pray to raise you high above your fears.

So you can conquer your mission.

Hey little fighter, things will get brighter.

Just wait and see.

What our Lord has in store for you,

Never asking "Why me?"

You have the strength.

You have the love.

So grab your baseball glove.

And strike out cancer.

Things will get brighter.

Even if you give up, give in, or feel down.

Or when it seems there's no where to turn,

Show God you aren't ready to leave this town,

And show him what you've learned.

You tell him you haven't fought this long, this hard, no how.

To watch it all go down the drain now.

Because you're a little fighter, things are getting brighter.

And you're starting to see.

What our Lord has in store for you,

Proudly saying "Hey, that's me!"

You feel the strength.

You feel the love.

Let use it to find the end of this war.

Things will get brighter.

As we're coming to a close,

With all the ones that love you most, surrounding you.

The lives you've touched, near and far,

You will be our brightest shining star,

For the rest of our lives.

Hey little fighter, you are brighter,

And now we can see,

Our Lord had a plan for you,

And that plan blessed me.

You've touched my life,

You've touched my heart,

I knew it from the very start,

You are so special,

Relentless fighter
