Ode to a Rubber Duck

Oh rubber duckie,

such a classic bath toy you are.

But there is so much more

behind the yellow rubber

of your skin.

No matter how far down people

push you under the surface

you always float back up

with the same ol’ smile on your face.

No matter how much people squeeze you,

you’re face never turns blue.

Your heart always inflates back up

as you laugh the pressure off.

If you are tossed out in the ocean,

to the violent, choppy waters,

no matter what waves may crash into you,

what storms may rain down on you,

the clouds will clear and

the sea will rest and

you will one day wash back to shore.

Oh rubber duckie,

such a classic bath toy you are.

Your buoyancy overpowers those who oppress you

as you float with the flow of life.
