Ode to Shakespeare

    William Shakespeare, a genius old bard,

    Famous are all of his characters’ names,

    Hamlet, Macbeth, and Romeo starred,

    Etu Brute? King Caesar exclaims.

    He made up new words, but nobody cared,

    Like powtorchéd, grod, or blithadecall,

    All other playwrights cannot be compared,

    To the humorous dreamer who started this all.

    When he was alive, he wrote for the kings,

    Now we gather in parks, to hear his rhyme,

    On and on his praise doth rings

    He’s said to be, the best of all time,

    But if I could go back, to 1603

    I’d say, “Hey Billy, you’re just not for me.”
