Ode to the Stage

My world starts here,

open and alive,

curtains hiding insecurities,

lights looming up ahead.

A sea of smiling faces,

all mine for the night,

anxious to see the show.

This is where I belong.

Where my heart shows the most,

and my mind is clear.

The spotlight is a sunbeam on my face.

My time to shine.

Heart racing,

feet pacing,

my freedom!

I am an artist,

with blank faces for a canvas.

These tears,

these laughs,

that applause is mine to create.

I stand here in my element,

ready to give my all.

This is me,

my momentary bliss,

through a performance that will last through time.

Waiting to take flight

into a sky made to intrigue

all forms of impassiveness.

As my flaws become assets,

memories are now timeless words of grace.

Here I am.

Here I stand.

I am a rose in the spring blooming with life.

I escape into a utopia that is all mine.

All mine,

to share with the world

at my will;

to be in love,

to be a singing, dancing, goddess,

to become beautiful,

to become real.

I become everlasting.

Curtains up,

It’s showtime…
