ode to summer
Summer, filled with yellow and blue. Yellow and blue: the two colors that fill us with joy. But when brown is added it makes us feel blue. It means fall is here and it’s here to stay until winter freezes it away. Then spring breaks the thaw and summer comes in to finish it all.
Summer is the season we all adore. We come running out the door. The summer heat is beaming down on our faces, the colors yellow and blue filling us with joy again. We play, we swim, we go to the beach to get a summer tan all in the hand of summer.
Half-way through summer, our school restlessness is gone. We take a break from the break- from all the vacationing, camps, and drives. We relax more, become a little sluggish, and we enjoy life much more than any other time of the year.
Then finally, the school bell rings and adds brown to the mix again which makes us blue because we really don’t want to hear that electronic Big Ben.
