Ode to Teachers

Teachers, do you remember, Sitting in those seats in late November?

With the tease, Of a break coming in with ease.

Can you feel the tension, And did you ever serve that detention?

Don't worry, we won't tell.As long as you promise, not to yell,

About our late work, it's coming and you know it well. Just smile and say, "Well, that's swell!"

When that bell sings of our leave,We promise not to grieve.

Just the same, I can't help but ask. So just listen for a minute, end that task.

Be real, and lift that mask.

Answer truthfully, even briefly, or be true to your mood, and answer rude.

I'll even leave you time to create a response so stewed.

"Why not create a change?" I'll leave you room to rearrange.

As I exited, I could have sworn To see a look of joy, rather than the normal one of scorn.
