Ode To Those Who Have Lost Battles With Themselves

An argument hides behind smiling eyes

And a battle roars between your two ears

Tightly clenched fists lay calmly by your thighs

While you silently fight hot, hated tears,

You can not wait to be alone, alone!

Alone is where the true battle starts!

Where your brain spits fiery words and dark thoughts.

Where your hand grasps a weapon, too well known,

More than anything this blade you have fought

But the scars of these fights will go unshown.

But as the scars grow longer and deeper

And as the evil voices shout louder

A new voice creeps in, the gentle reaper.

And his soft voice grows fonder and fonder,

But now his voice is booming like thunder

As tears trickle down your cheeks like raindrops

And red lightning zigzags across your skin

While the hail storm of pills screams, “kill her!”

Your storming brain begs for your heart to stop.

Your last breath proves the cruel voices always win.
