ode to thumbs

An ode To My Thumbs

Oh thumbs,

There is not much I can do to show my appreciation

What would I do if it wasn’t for you

You’re the star player of the team known as my hand,

Though my other fingers are a help you are irreplaceable,

thanks to you I can text my friends,

thanks to you I can grasp the pen I use to put these thoughts on this paper, which I could not have placed down on this desk if it was not for you,

Sometimes I wonder what life would be without my thumbs,

I think of all the gestures I could no longer do,

I could no longer high five,

Only high four,

I could no longer thumbs up,

Without thumbs how would I settle a dispute with a thumb war?

These thumbs oh these thumbs,

You are that helpful friend that’s always beside you,

You are to me as the moon is to the tides,

My thumbs there are none like you,

My thumbs are an asset to most of what I do,

Thumbs,

I love you,

Thumbs,

I need you,

Thumbs,

A big thumbs up to you
