An Ode to the Water
I love
The rise of the water.
Over the rocks,
Over the ocean,
Comes above.
Tides above.
May you
Bring me down by the water.
By the rocks,
By the ocean.
By cove.
I love the cove.
Bring me down
To the water, and its rocks, and its ocean, and its cove.
To the sea.
The sparkling, darling, morning sea.
The flowing sea.
The flowing sea is what I live for.
Why I love the sea so much I’ll never know.
At least know
I love the sea.
The water flows out to the ocean
And it'll break upon the rocks.
It never knows where it’s rowing.
I love the sea.
It ever knows where it's going.
But it doesn’t need to see.
It ever knows where its flowing blindly.
Where would we be,
Without the sea?
It carries us
And ferries us
And it shares its pleasures with all of us upon it.
A many thanks
To the sea.
From the bad,
For the good,
To the free.
Sincerely,
me
