Ode to the World
World of dark depths and clear skies
Mysteries waiting to be discovered
Excitement around every corner
Places waiting to be found, mapped out, and shared
Full of the sounds of life
Birds singing, crickets chirping, laughter flying on the wind
Hear the streams bubbling, and the leaves fluttering
Allowing dogs to run, frogs to croak
Watching life pass by
Listening to the love of laughter and the sadness of cries
And always there to do it
When the creatures pay attention
They can hear you talking in the whisper of the wind
Feel the warmth of your soil-brown hair
See the liquid pools of blue that are your eyes
Shiver at your pal skin in the depths of winter
Always feeling your gaze but never knowing exactly where to look
You are everywhere and nowhere, everything and nothing
Never staying in one place long
A traveler, a wanderer, full of insatiable wanderlust
Your fiery temper and kind heart at war
Exploding like a volcano with anger or calm rolling off of you like waves
You seem like you will last forever
A never ending light in an infinity of dark
But eventually you will fade
Your light going out like the sunset dropping below the horizon
Your warmth disappearing into the cold blackness of space
The creatures will not cry for you
For they will already be gone
Having lived their lives discovering your mysteries
Mapping out your newly found places
Listening to your birds sing and your crickets chirp
All as you fade into the endless universe
