Odes to Opal

Odes to Opal

You rest on my neck,

Adjusting your beauty to my desire.

Watch as my life pass by.

Since my thirteenth birthday, when I got you in a silky sapphire colored box,

To my first dance,

Where I was drenched in sweat and smelled like lavender.

To now,

When I’m sitting in my rocking chair and reminiscing about my past.

You are my quiet long time companion.
