Oh, Child

Oh, child of innocence. child of pain. child of hope. though not a child of gain. your dirty bare feet stand a world away. yet i see you stand. I see you run to play I see you run to run away. behind my eyes where i cannot look away. glimpses. moments. we passed in our paths. big hand wrapped around little hand. down the trail. barriers torn down with tongues tied. where we cannot speak we do. together. contrasting hands. contrasting ways. intertwined hearts. intertwined lives. though I could leave. comfort and luxury awaiting. you had to stay. I called it harsh. you call it home. what I saw blew my mind. to bits. what you see is ordinary. everyday. this breaks my heart. no. not out of pity for your shanty where I have a mansion. my heart breaks when I see you. oh, happy child. smiling. tranfsforming as dark night turns to bright day. but your ribs are showing. your foot is bleeding. no food. no help. no knowledge how to help yourself. though you lack basic needs. you are content with the simplest of simplicity. we lack in nothing. we strive for more. never satisfied. we want more for ourselves only. leaving you to stay in the dirt and chaos and fright. you are hungry. we are odese. you are hurt. we have hello kitty bandaids. my heart breaks. for you are grateful and we are miserable. my heart breaks. for you need a hand and our hands are full. the latest fashions. latest technology. latest trends. Oh, child of innocence. Forgive us for we are ignorant. Oh, child pain. Forgive us for we are deaf to your cries. Oh, child of hope. Forgive us for we will not help you reach for your dreams. Oh, child. Your gain is food for today. but what of tomorro? Your gain is a game of soccer. but what happens when you fall? Your gain is famiy. but what of the bruises? You are gaining hope. but no one can succeed on their own. rich nor poor. healthy nor sick. knowledgable nor naive. Together we can do. do great things. save people. save natinos. I have seen you and will never forget you. those glimpses. those moments. with you have become eras of time. eras of motivation. motivation to help. to do. to live. together. Oh, child...

What an interesting way of looking at a homeless, hungry, sad child. Keep writing!
