Oh Destruction.

A glistening metal
Smooth as butter
Thin as a stick of gum
Shining like the morning sky
Calling your name
And
Haunting your every move

A razor it is.

Sitting on your dresser drawer
Hiding in your pocket
Becoming your one and only friend
Shining some light on the darkness that seems to never end

As soon as things turn for the worst
Your best friend is there
Gliding against your skin
Allowing a sea of redness to flow down your arm
Leaving tears on your face
And battle wounds on your arms

An unusual sense of calmness
As the cold metal moves
Against your warm skin

The sight of the sea relieves your pain
Deceiving you, into believing all your problems
Are flowing away

And, finally
Courage is built up
And you go out
A smile is put on your face
And people begin to ask

What are those scars?
Are you ok?

You put on a fake smile
Say a little white lie,
And then come home
Where
The cycle of destruction once again…
Begins.
