Oh How I Hate Poetry

Hating poetry is easy

It makes you think

It makes you learn

Teachers force you to write in weird ways

To convey stoies you don't care about

What even is poetry

except dumb-downed writing?

I can get away with line after line

Of simplistic trash

And still call it a great write

And yet,

I can say what I want

I can share my ideas

Without overselling them

Without all the glitz and glam of paragraphs

And, oh Lord, full sentances

I basically talk in one over extended sentence

This isn't so bad

After all, I feel pretty good about it

Poetry doesn't have to be hard

I kind of like it

I think I could write like this forever

How ideal that life would be

How beautiful every word can seem

In this style of writing

How grand a single word can be

Maybe I can be grand too

Oh how I love poetry
