Oh how you’ll grow

The little girl crying because

Daddy only yells

Daddy drinks a little too much

Daddy is gone too much

Now as she grows Daddy says

“I’m Sorry”

”I’ll never do it again”

She says,

“ What you’ll never make me feel useless, broken, and ugly again?

Or you’ll never beat me with your fist because I said no?

Or you’ll never be so drunk that you are never home again?

Now which is it because I need to know

Cause this growing girl isn’t little anymore.

I’m done with the abuse and neglect.

But you taught me one thing

that I don’t anyone to grow anymore.
