Oh Maya
I did not know you well but I knew your words
I knew not your conutenance but I knew your voice
I knew not your past but I knew your words were deeply rooted in life
I knew not why but I knew your words were built with strength
I did not know you well but I knew your words
tis now that your are gone your words live on
and still I rise
like dust
like air
like hope sprining high
For you
For I
For We are
The dream and hope of the slave
I knew you not but I knew your words
