Oh! My soul

Matthew 11:29           New English Translation

29 Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Oh! My soul

You aspire to a high position, but the Lord will bring you low

You cherish many hopes, I know, but the Lord allows no success

You entertain all the delight you want, but the Lord moves all so

That as you yearn for glory the Lord humiliates you with stress

Nothing in the Lord’s ordering goes co-inside with “Christian” thought

Everything will strike you down as you struggle with God’s Might

It won’t take long then to give up and this feels like you heading for naught

For at that point, you can’t discern, that the Lord can’t enjoy your demise

That is why the soul has to die for it needs to lose heart for self

I will not get anywhere beyond what is in this world

Unless my soul is sacrificed and burned as a gift to God

In the power and the strength of Jesus Christ, my Lord
