Oh Sweet Child of the Sea

You have hair like fire and a voice so soft

Your kingdom in the sea is all you've ever known

Yet you yearned for the love of a man

Unlike your father's and friend's

But the kind of love that make your heart flutter

Out on land you longed to be

Wandering around with feet like those strangers you've only seen

Many nights you cried and protested

If only they understood

Your desire to be where those people were

One day

When you thought you'd never get to leave

A man is what you foud in the sea

His hair dark like a raven and eyes burning into yours

He could not stop staring

Dazed by your looks

Oh sweet child

You gave your heart to him then and there

If only you knew the cruelty of man

If only you listened to the warnings

But it was too late

You have fallen in love

He pomised you freedom and wealth

He spoke of castles and riches

His words dripped with lust and deception

But you could not see

He tangled you in his ropes and took you away

Locked you up and put you on desplay

He beat you up and cut into your skin

But you loved him

oh sweet child, your love was deeper than the sea

You gave yourself to him

Over and over again

Until he grew tired of the wealth he had made

You no longer served as an entertainment

Now you were only dead weight

He threw you down and had some fun

Only to then slice you up

Your screams did not thaw his freezing heart

Oh sweet child of the sea

Cant you see?

He does not love you so

But you forgave him time after time

And when you drew your last breath

You looked at him and declared your everlasting love

He just stood still

Wearing a smile resereved for those foolish enough to believe

In things like fairytales and forevers and perfect love.
