Old heart one
Greensleeves
I shall tell you a story of sorrow and woe
A tale so old and very deprived of hope
A long time ago In a house on a hill
There was a young maiden
She was very ill
She had hair the color of gold
With flecks of red that shown under the suns bright rays
Freckles danced across her cheeks
Her skin was pale, ivory white
Beautiful was she?
I shall never truly know
For my own eyes never graced her
Although many have told
How her beauty shook people
And her kindness made her glow
It was summer she went dancing
Prancing through the trees
The moon lit a path
On her way down to the sea
This maiden took a bath
In the cold salty ocean
She thought she felt free
With every motion
Visible to no one
No one but he
The gods above became jealous
Of this women’s figure
And because of her happiness
Which made her
light as a feather
The young lady began to sing
Her voice like a lark
A song that surely was meant to leave a mark,
“Oh where, oh where can my lady be?
For it seems a while
That I have been searching,
Away she went
Into the mists
I miss her so
With my every breath
I wish, I wish
For one more chance
To lay upon her a gentle kiss
My love for her is a thousand years
My love for her brings me to tears
Away she went into the mists
I wish, I wish, I wish”
Moved by these words and the girls soprano tone
The gods decided they would make it well known
This girl was too precious for just any man to own
She had the voice of a nightingale
They liked to hear her sing
They hoped one day
She would sprout wings
Fly up to the heavens
So her presence would bring
The musical treasures
That youth keeps
Before a women shall bear a ring
