Old Lies

Our forefathers wrote Of an equality among men. Which we try to quote, But get beaten then. How can we live in such a backwards world? Our lips are bloody, their lips are curled. Separate but equal, they try to appease. But this taste of freedom is just a small tease. Ask the Lord to help find happiness in pain, But for bitterness I fear, my life will never be the same.
