To the Old Me

Dear Old Me,

Forget about your past,

Your insecurities, your grief, and

Everything that deals with your past.

You went through the worst.

The loss of your parents before graduation,

Moving into an unfamiliar home,

Losing your best friend,

Losing everything that felt like home.

You walked through hell in the past four years,

But your new family and friends never left your side.

You never spent a day without a smile.

You overcame more than any adult ever has.

Fast forward to 2018.

You are a first-year college student,

With a great family, best friend, and

Navy active-duty boyfriend.

You got accepted into the nursing program.

Stop stressing over the little things.

Life happens and you have to move on.

So carry on with your best smile yet,

And be prepared to change the world,

One day at a time.

Love,

The Present You
