The Old Me

I guess it all started the day

Something within me did not feel right.

I later learned it was because the younger me had died.

Her dreams along with her.

I realized I had failed.

I had told her that I would always be there for her

that I would honor her.

I would not disregard her like so many have done before.

I was not the same.

It felt odd having to relearn myself without her

Teach myself fundamentals without her

I was so used to her having my back even when hers was broken.

Eventually Junior year came around

I was starting to flourish

Mentally and spiritually.

I was learning what self love was again.

The day I lost my younger me

I did not notice at first

In fact, I thought it was just a weird feeling

It was not until months later that I knew.

I broke down and cried that day

because I thought I let her down

Little did I know she left because she knew I had to grow without her.

Even till the very end she was watching out for me

I lost my bestfriend in her

but I gained a new me

the teen me and soon to be adult me.
