In With The Old, Out With The New (Villanelle)

This life becoming mine. Bite into this infinite fruit, Don’t forget to spit out the rind. Untraceable on your level line, Stripped of my worldly pressure suit. This life becoming mine. Skies warp and wrap around the mind. And though your feet have forgotten what it means to commute, Don’t forget to spit out the rind. No longer blind. I can’t refute, This life becoming mine. I stew in the brine, And remember what it’s like to deeply root. Don’t forget to spit out the rind, Because I’m not of mankind. The wet stars, soggy blades, and our milk stained skin all constitute This life becoming mine, Don’t forget to spit out the rind.
