Old Red Barn

This is what WE TWO have to say:

We’re tired- and ready to go,

Know it will happen – after the next snow.

Our roof has seen – the worst of weather,

And have the feeling – it won’t get better.

Sixty years – serving our master,

Protecting machinery - from disaster.

Keeping hay dry – so not to waste,

Cats rats birds – a nesting place.

Our pretty red – has faded bad,

Enough to make us -  feel real sad.

Once the envy – of all go by,

Now we’re old - ready to die.

We want to leave – with style and pride,

Cause:

Our boards and poles – came from timber,

That – we both temember.

We two  big oaks – eight foot girth,

At least 100 years -  from our birth.

When we’re down – on the ground,

Our boards weathered – can be found.

Perfect wood – for special project,

Cost little money – out of pocket.

We be happy – also you!
