Old Soul
When I was young
I was told I have an old soul
that I was more mature than the rest
but that was just a saying to justify things.
To justify,
that darkness was already creeping into my soul
leaving nothing,
nothing but coldness and destruction in its path.
To justify,
that it was searching,
looking,
for my childlike innocence.
To justify,
growing up too quick
from a fucked up childhood.
It's okay...
because I have an old soul.
I'm mature.
I'm wise.
I know better.
But that was the first step
down a long dark road
of becoming
jaded
cynical
and morbid.
Justify that.
