Old Veteran

A man who sleeps beneth the starts with not a dime left to spend

written on a piece of card bored old veteran.

Scares trace his every outline words slow but sure to speak

war has left him strong, pain has left him weak.

Seen to much to function, knows too much to sleep

every time he shuts his eyes all the action goes in repeat.

he's shot and killed the enemy and has saluted to his own

as an American flag is rested on top of them preparing to take them home.

Hope has been stolen from him and has no family to call his own

but has served our country with pride so for that , he will always be called a vertean

and will FOREVER have a home.
