older self

Dear young Katarina,

You’ll find that life has its ups and even it’s own downs.

Like the leaves changing colors for a new season

Life with happiness and joyful memories with friends and family,

But you’ll learn quickly that Life can change in beat of the drums

You’ll learn that you have to grow up quickly,

And make sure that you’re able to survive

As years go by:

You’ll let your emotions come

And that’s totally okay

You’ll find yourself finding love through friends and family

You’ll learn that your body is beautiful

You’ll enjoy all the stretch marks, the jiggling of the stomach

Even though it took you years to start to love your body.

You’ll find that love to others is never easy

You’ll find that hardships happen

That love is gentle as a flower

It can be broken with a simple word

Your heart is special

You’ve always picked up the shards

One by one

With bleeding hands, still picking up the shards

Slowing putting the pieces together

Like a puzzle that has been waiting for a while to be done

If you fall in love again

Your heart is starting to break,

Breaking up more than the last time

Making you start over once again

But you continue to grow as a person

So love yourself and be able to spread your wings

Head held high and fly peacefully

Love,

Older you
