Olivia On Display

Location

Hidden behind photos and many filters,

There's something about me thats a little off-kilter.

I try to be me, but I'm caught in a snare,

But what makes me me, society doesn't seem to care.

As long as my differences are kept under the rug,

As long as I seem as signififcatn as a bug.

To this I say "I will not give in, nor concur,

I won't fall into this fog-like blur".

Society says to be all the same,

but that means there'd be nothing, nothing in a name.

But "what's in a name?" William Shakespeare had once written,

But that very idea for today has been smitten.

A person should have the freedom to make their name,

To come out of hiding and write their fame.

My name is Olivia, I'm tall and smart,

And I'm breaking from society to get a fresh start.

For years I was told to hide my height,

That being six foot tall girl was was an intimidating sight.

I started to hide my grand size,

In an attempt to fool judgemental eyes.

It took a while before for I realized

I wouldn't actually shrink, unlike what I had idealized.

Today I stand with upmost pride,

I broke through the barrier of "things I should hide".

My name is Olivia and I'm six feet tall,

And I will not filter my height or shun it, above all.
