The Omniscience of Acacia
I get asked daily what my name means.
I would always shrug and go by the dictionary definition: "thorny tree".
This was before I discovered that the most beautiful things don't fit onto a 3x5 notecard, or fit neatly between college ruled lines.
All I do now is look back and laugh at my ignorance.
Now, if someone asked me this, I would say this:
Acacia, well Acacia can mean a plethora of things. Acacia is someone that falls a little too easily, can possibly relate to the word quirky, and loves sushi a little too much. Acacia is someone who can recite deep quotes on command. She speaks in hidden subscripts, and wishes she could roll sweet words off the tip of her tongue. Acacia can turn you into poetry, if you let her. But, what she will find out soon is that people aren't poetry. Acacia doesn't know how the world works, and she scrambles to find quotes and poetry to help her understand the meaning of life. Little does she know that sometimes the meaning of life can't be condensed to a simple 140 characters. She is learning. She really is. But man, sometimes she sends way too many postcards into space, hoping for a response. But, most of all, Acacia is someone that embodies care. She will care and care and care until there is nothing left to care about.
And I bet you wished that I wouldve given you a simple one-two word definition of Acacia, but the truth is, words are used for things other than filling emptiness.
Oh I'm sorry, where are my manners?
"My name is Acacia, nice to meet you."
"And your name is..."
